Stupid kids they get caught every time and place their family and whole lot of other people thru a bunch of grief and wreck their own lives.

They made the "runaway bride" pay some of the cost of police work and other expenses due to her stunt. Likewise, maybe if the parents/child had to pay back some of the cost of making such a false claim, then it will set a good example for anyone else thinking of doing the same thing someday.
