My how times have changed. Way back when I was 12 years old, older kids in the neighborhood had large fireworks we called "bombs", such as "cherry bombs", "M80's", and "Silver Salutes", not to mention the homemade "matchbox bomb" made from pulling out the fuses from firecrackers and blowing on the other end to force the tiny amount of gunpowder onto a paper plate. Neighborhood kids would blow for hours until their lips were silver just to fill a old timey match box and wrap it with tape. True we were all lucky nobody got ever hurt, but nobody even knew what a "bomb threat" was back then. On New Years parties, the everyone would come outside to watch the matchbox bomb blow in a driveway. But it wasn't all that innocent. Flushing a cherry bomb down a school toilet or blowing up a mailbox with a cherrybomb were notorious "pranks" back then. I'm sure there is a difference in being a deliquent and being psychotic for pete's sake, but I wonder what kind of trouble a kid would get into nowadays for blowing up a mailbox or a school toilet? More than a butt tanning and mowing lawns all summer I bet......
