City May Get The Power To Adopt Odor Regulations
A House of Representatives committee took the first step toward that end Wednesday by approving legislation by Rep. Billy Montgomery, R-Haughton, that would give any city the power to adopt odor regulations governing rendering plants.

What Ill wind blowest
I am surprised that the restaurant owners in that area aren't pushing to resolve this. I thought it very funny when I first heard it on the news but then I met a friend at an eatery in that area on a hot morning. The stench in the air was so thick we decided to leave the area and eat elsewhere. It is actually sickening.

My wife works at the downtown airport. The stench there gets pretty bad. I wish they would do something about it. We eat out that way frequently.

I live and work in South East Shreveport and South Bossier so I am lucky not to have to smell that. No way I could eat and smell that no way I would drive a long way to find fresh air. Bad gag reflex

Well the city just spent a fortune on the new convention center and the new Hilton hotel, so at least they could pay the dog food plant a couple of million to move another 10 or 15 miles up the road IMHO... I am betting that this is the closest protein rendering plant to ANY Hilton hotel anywhere in the country. LOL

The City polices the Private sector
While this is a good bill it is good when a city grows past its industrial zones. The down side is the city is exempt from the same rules. Why does the city deserve a pass?
