State Fair
When I was about four and my brother about two my dad took us to the state fair. About nine seconds later he turned around and we were nowhere to be found.

Took our boys to the Revel once when they were like 2 and 4.. All of a sudden the youngest just disappeared. And of course we freaked out for about a total of 1 minute I think, when some Revel workers drove up in one of those golf carts. We told them what was up, they got on their radios and about 10 seconds later they had a report that a kid had been found. A fireman had found him wondering around alone and they had him hanging out with these fireman on a Fire Engine Hook&Ladder .. he was having a blast. |

Lost at the fair
Nope, I've been living underneath the Tilt-a-Whirl ever since.

Don't they take down the Tilt-a-Whirl when the Fair is over ? or have you just been traveling from town to town ever since Life on the road, living under the BIG TOP all this time. |

I haven't been to the state fair since the 80's. My whole family use to go in the 60's and it was a big deal back then. But then like so many things, it just seemed to go downhill.
I was wondering, do they still have the salt water taffy? We saw the fireworks tonight from I-20 and I was wondering if it was a safe enough place to take a family during the day? I wouldn't mind some cotton candy and taffy. Might be fun. |

Yeah, they still make real saltwater taffy, and man is it good. Plus, they have some excellent gyros..I had one for the first time at last year's fair...D-Lish! Last year thay had this little helicopter that would make a lap around the entire fairgrounds for 10 bucks a head..the wife and I went on it, first time either of us had ever been on a chopper...it was as cool as you could imagine. I remember telling her before we got on that the damn thing could very well just drop out of the sky...with US in it. But I plan to do it again this year. Oh, and they have all of the exotic animals...plenty of big cats, which are always fascinating. Matty, if you're reading this, I'd highly recommend seeing the state fair as you're new to Shreveport. Bring the entire family..good food, rides, sights to see, and they even serve beer! Enjoy!
