If passenger train travel were about a fifth the price it is now it might attract some customers. Until then I'd rather save money (fly coach or even business class) and get there much, much sooner.

You people need to realize that Wal-Mart benefits even those that don't ever shop there by keeping those people out of regular-people stores.

I have never traveled on a train across country ? Done plenty of flying and I like it. I am with joe I will sit in the back just get me there soon.

I enjoyed flying a lot more before my head will filled with images of 9/11... I'm a "control freak". I would also enjoy flying a lot more if I was piloting the plane myself. But just sitting back and adding mass to a 400mph ballastic missile is not my idea of a fun ride the way it used to be.

To be technical and annoying, an aircraft isn't a ballistic missile because it uses aerodynamic control surfaces to achieve level flight, it doesn't follow a ballistic path. If it did the ride would be much faster but much less pleasant for everyone involved, although the view would be spectacular.
