Should have done some time
I know he is old and I know he will have to live with this which is all bad but at very least he should gotten six months just for the people that got hurt in the deal. Sad deal any way you cut it.

Well the judge said one reason was to save taxpayer dollars on his healthcare while he would be in prison. In the surface, this makes sense, but when is saving taxpayer dollars a big priority for judges? Saving taxpayer dollars has nothing to do with sentencing or punishment to begin with. On that basis we wouldn't try anyone on capital punishment because of the relatively high cost compared to life in prison.

Excellent point, rhertz! However, how refreshing it is to know that someone on the bench actually gives a damn about the allocation of public funds. Would that the authorities in all three branches of government were so circumspect! To take it a step further, why not simply terminate all of the murderers and rapists and save the taxpayers a mint?

terminate all of the murderers and rapists
This would save money and stop repeat offenders.
