Recycling Mill Coming To Shreveport
Something green is coming to Shreveport: A $150 million recycling mill, with more than 115 jobs, will be built at the Port of Shreveport-Bossier.

yeah I heard about this. Initially the city will kick in and buy the containers and recycling will be "free". (That is, paid by our current taxes) Then after a couple of years, the city will stick it to us with a fee, tax, or rate hike. Just watch and see. It's just more government subsidized industry if you ask me, because the private company cannot make it on their own without tax subsidization. I'm all for recycling but the government is a horrible service provider with a mighty big gun.

I thought the city was going to buy the containers and then put a $2.50 fee on our water bills. Here's an idea: Voluntary recycling like we have now. It doesn't cost me a thing. If it saves the city money, let the city do it. if it profits some company, then let that company do it. I hope (but doubt) we can opt out. Recycling is a waste of something a lot more valuable than trees: money. |
