I heard that recently Texas raised the speed limit to 80mph on some parts of some Interstate highways. What was funny was the reason. The logic is to prevent drivers from falling asleep on very long and flat highways with zero features in order to hold a person's attention.

I'll have to agree with the speeder. Isn't that the reason we get tickets in the first place because the limits are too low?? Good grief!

I was driving up from New Orleans a couple of weeks back.. broke my personal record.. got from New Orleans to Shreveport in 4.5 hours.. that was doing about 80mph the whole way... including I-10 which is unusual, seems I always get caught up in traffic on I-10 especially from baton rouge and new orleans.. the whole trip seems to usually take me 5.5 hours or so.. that 4.5 hours this last time included a stop to eat

Go on 190 Baton Rouge->Opeulsas instead of I-10/I-49 and you'll shave another 10-15 minutes.
