True, Jesus died and arose to open up a new door (through grace) in the new testiment so that sinners who otherwise would not ever make it to heaven via the old testiment (eye for an eye), can now do so, IF they repent their sins and accept Jesus as Savior and the true Son of God.

Only Christ (and Mary) were without sin in God's eyes. Unfortunately few can make that claim. But that shouldn't keep us from trying! Just because Jesus afforded us a new opportunity doesn't mean we should abuse that opportunity and gift by not at least trying to live life as Christ lived.
