How does a fictional story make that point?

If I make up a story about someone accidentally hurting themselves with a gun, does that make the point that every house shouldn't have one?

I read the snopes report, they couldn't verify the story, but they listed a few other stories with similar results.. so it was all good

and to answer your question.. I'd say the answer is no.. but possibly that a refresher course in Gun Safety might be necessary
