I have been embarrassed before when I couldn't understand what a foreign doctor was saying to me. Once with a Vietnamese man and again once with an Indian doctor. I realize these are highly trained men but I actually hated to ask them to repeat themselves several times because they couldn't speak English well.

So true. It makes me feel dumb because I can't understand them, and they look at you like duhhhh.
