Smile fishing at the lock and dam

If you have never tried it I would highly suggest a little trip down the river to a spot that I use to frequent quite often called the lock and dam it can prove to be a very enjoyable little venture producing some of the largest catfish I have ever caught on rod and reel not to mention the strippers, so grab a pole and a kid and head to the fishing hole

I've never fished on the River...mostly on Caddo Lake and Lake Claiborne. Where do you launch and where are some good spots for bass?

Welcome Grits I fish the Red River all the time. You can launch at Bossier public ramp or Shreveport public ramp. I launched at the new ramp in the Port Lake yesterday very, very nice. Clarke's landing is just north of the lock and dam. Bream are doing very good and catfish at this time few black bass but the river is up high and not easy to fish because of floating trash coming down. I will post a few photos here.

Fishing

I ran one hoopnet yesterday morning and caught 469lbs. of Opps. The biggest was 58 lbs. I got hurt getting the net in but it was worth it. I'll post pics later.

Fishing is a dangerous sport, and not just for the fish.

The Star Tribune reported that eye injuries from fishing have reeled past basketball injuries to become the number one sports-related eye injury in the U.S., according to the U.S. Eye Injury Registry at the Birmingham-based Helen Keller Foundation.
