Noose found in break room at LSU medical center

Hospital administrators said they have notified federal authorities and asked them to investigate

Investigate what? Is tying a noose a crime?

Yes, the worst kind, a hate crime... After Jena, anything involving a noose makes the headlines....

LateNight 10-25-2007 02:14 PM

so correct me if I'm wrong.. but with Halloween coming up.. seems I've usually seen the occasional noose hanging from a tree etc.. used for Halloween decoration..

I guess that'll be a crime now ?

A "hate crime" is an adjunct to another felony. Tying a knot isn't a felony.

Try telling that to Sharpton or Jackson... I'm sure they would say that the mere presence of a noose is assault against their people....

Yeah I remember some kids wearing nooses as part of their halloween costumes many years ago. Not this year though..... The PC machine has spoken.

New Jersey couple removes hanged dummy from Halloween
Attachment 1679

A photo of the Halloween decoration at the center of the controversy shows a faceless, but life-sized figure hanging from a chimney. Some members of the community thought it represented a lynching and that the figure in the noose was black.
"This is very sensitive. This is something that has gone on in American history that we won't forget," Millie Hazlewood. "But we don't have to keep on recycling and bring it back up, and at this point in time, no."
The decoration has now been removed, replaced by a sign claiming they will no longer decorate for Halloween and Christmas.
The homeowners place the blame for that decision on Millie Hazlewood.
Cheryl Maines showed us a video of some of the elaborate Halloween decorations their son David had set up in the past, which include the figure hanging by a noose.
"That's all my son wanted to do was to please children," Cheryl Maines. "It wasn't a lynching. It wasn't cause to go against any race. It was merely a Halloween display."
I wonder if all cowboys should take offense as well, didn't they hang bad cowboys in western times. Also besides burning, didn't they hang witches too.
What about the Indians? Stupid me, I forgot they were alll black not white. Give it a rest people and quit hollering about bullsh##.

LOL, can it be a "noose" if it has a noose at BOTH ENDS ????

Hospital chief explains rope found in break room

Quote:

A noose found in a doctors' break room at LSU Health Sciences Center in Shreveport could be a piece of rope fashioned with a knot and a loop and used to treat orthopedic patients, the head of the facility said today.

Administrators at the hospital and medical school notified federal authorities on Wednesday because they were concerned the rope, which had loops on each end, could be construed as a hate crime to intimidate African-Americans.

Dr. John McDonald said there are alternative explanations to the noose-like device.

It could be a rope that is tied and used by surgeons to give traction to fracture patients, McDonald said.

LOL and on another note, I'd like it broken down, throughout history.. the number of people hung to death, and a breakdown on race :)

I'm sure certain people are on high alert right now, scouring their places of work for possible signs of racism. I'm sure the signs are even being taught in their houses of worship, thanks to "leaders" like Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton. Neighbors, coworkers, and strangers are to be regarded as racist until proven otherwise. At this point I wouldn't be surprised if certain people planted nooses around town to stir up trouble. I had a person like this as an elementary school teacher in East Texas. Some of her comments to her fourth grade class:

Have you ever considered why...

...you wear white to a wedding and black to a funeral?
..angel's food cake is white, and devil's food cake is black?

I think racism is alive and well in Louisiana, but I don't think the racists are who the media says they are.

Isaac-Saxxon 10-25-2007 07:54 PM

There are different races. That would make me a racist by the media standard. IT is in fact the media that tries to make us all one color. God created all his children different as our finger prints. He looked and it was very good. Forcing people into one universal mold causes many of our problems. Some are good at one thing while other peoples are good at another. We like different food and our teeth, bones, skin and hair are very different. In the last few years a Doctor at LSU has been able to determine the race by DNA samples. The media and politicians play the race card. The kids learn from their parents and the media

There are 2 nooses hanging from the rafters in the shop @ my job and NOBODY cares- Someone was probably bored, and they look like they've been there for years. We have several black employees and plenty of black customers that see them, they are in plain sight. I never thought anything racist about it- black folks don't have a monopoly on hangins! I'm sure somewhere in MY ancestry a noose was involved, and I am not offended! People will always make something out of nothing, especially the reverends Al and Jesse, who are becoming more irrelevant by the day-

Trust me, the insurance company cares......if they knew about them...

Or maybe I'm wrong in insurance companies now exempt most policies from terrorism as well as hate stuff.... If it is a real "exposure", then they will "exclude" that to keep those double digit profits...

That's only because the right opportunist has not come along to sue your shop for racism. Trust me. If they knew, there would be news cameras at your shop tomorrow. Actually, make that tonight on the ten o'clock news. Then it's only a matter of time until CNN and Anderson Cooper are camped outside your shop for round the clock coverage.

That does it! From now on, I will take great offense to being called "white". From now on, I insist that when so-called "African Americans" speak of "white" people, they use the term "European American", or there'll be 9 kinds of hell raised. So let it be written, so let it be done!
