Explanation: Better known as M106, bright spiral galaxy NGC 4258 is about 30 thousand light years across and 21 million light years away toward the northern constellation Canes Venatici. The yellow and red hues in this composite image show the galaxy's sweeping spiral arms as seen in visible and infrared light. But x-ray and radio data (blue and purple) reveal two extra spiral arms -- arms that don't align with the more familiar tracers of stars, gas, and dust. In fact, an analysis of the x-ray and radio data suggests that the anamolous arms are composed of material heated by shock waves. Detected at radio wavelengths, powerful jets originating in the galaxy's core likely drive the shocks into the disk of NGC 4258.

I REALLY hate to ask you of all people for advice, but exactly where do you check the comments or am I to assume I've accumulated negative 343 without one single comment?

They are just a indicator of how your post are received by the people on the board. Want to lay down the sword and have adult conversation ? I have tried and will offer again but I will not take your insults with out returning fire and I see others will not either. Once again back to the question of "choice" and the ball is in your court. I would rather take the high road but if you choose other then that is how I will reply. I will not cut bait and run

Regardless of your ability to understand this simple concept or not, I'm going to explain it to you. When I ask any type of serious question and your response consists of myth and imaginary beings.....I FIND THAT HIGHLY OFFENSIVE. All you have to say is I don't know

When you take my comments out of context or just outright lie about something I've said.....I FIND THAT HIGHLY OFFENSIVE. All you have to do is speak (type) the truth, NOT the truth as you see it.

So you can take the high road all day long, but as long as you are intolerant of my thoughts and opinions and lack the basic skills one needs to exist within a modern society, then expect 10 fold in return.

I dunno about that. If someone (no names specified) wants to make a jack@$$ of himself (or herself) by flaming me without a good reason, I'd just let it go. I don't even try to return fire because I really don't care about the opinions of a person who just wants to get a rise out of me.

You insult me with your rude comments so ten fold it will be. One question does everyone on this board get ten fold too or am I the lucky one on the board ?

Mentality is easy to waste

I don't think braindead knows how to lay down sword,, that's all he knows and can keep warm at night in the hole which he lives. He has a new game on his website, smack th rabbit. I think he has smacking his rabbit to much,,, try smacking yourself with a REALITY CHECK. You must have a night job that shields you from reality, society, and challenging that brain of yours. get some help.

maybe SBLIVE can start a donation thread to aid in your mental rehab!

Exactly my point. You enjoy telling me how "tolerant" the christians are of your beliefs yet readily admit to not defending your beliefs when they are called into question (second time you've made that statement that I know of)

If that's what you call tolerance....kid, you've got a lot to learn about the world....

You're absolutely right....giving up is a Christian trait.

Notice no other religion has a "savior" who was beaten, tortured, and then crucified by mere mortals.....

I'm not sure he was "crucified" per say, but Mithra was a sacrificed for mankind much the way Jesus was. In fact, Mithra has a LOT in common with Jesus.

Rev. Derrek Younger spoke in one of his sermons all about Mithra. He said, "Mithra is one of your Pagan deities. Mithra's birthday was Dec 25. He had 12 disciples. He was sacrificed to redeem mankind. Before his death, he had a last supper with his 12 disciples of bread and wine. And upon his death, he prophesized that he would once again return to redeem mankind."

Other than him, the Buddhist monks reach Nirvana (oneness with the divine) by fasting and meditating straight until the moment of their death. They literally starve themselves to death in order to reach their equivalent of Heaven.

They are out there, believe me. Christians are not as alone in this respect as you my think.

Anywho, we're off-topic. Let's get back to the Astronomy discussion and leave religion in its proper topics.

Some would say Christanity was copied directly from Mithra and that the two are basically one in the same.

Buddah was not an omnipotent being allowing himself to be sacrificed by mere mortals and neither are his followers.

That may be true, but you certainly haven't proven it.

I can agree, but I doubt it's going to happen.
