The lengths we go to handling deceased remains are ridiculous. At least this guy did the sensible thing in getting cremated instead of something stupid like burial.

Are you saying that all those who opt for burial are stupid? If so, then I may be stupid, but I'm in pretty good company...

not stupid just dead ! I would choose cremation over a box and a visitation any day. It is a waste of money. My soul is gone so why waste time on the clay shell ?? Like weddings much overdone.

I agree the whole burial and casket thing can be stupid and expensive..
if there is ANYTHING to be said of the whole thing.. it's having a nice peaceful place for those left behind, to go visit your grave site.

of course as soon as I say that.. that whole idea only holds so much I suppose.. as opposed to 'some other place' that was possibly a shared experience etc..

So never mind then..

TGIF.. nothin' left do but smile, smile, smile.

Can't you do both? That is, be cremated and be buried? Or do urns only go into those drawer thingies? (mausoleums? tombs?)

Moossy Graveside Service to be Held Wed. 12-5-07

Service for Louis Moossy to be held Wednesday

A public graveside service for Louis Moossy will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph's Cemetery located at Greenwood Road and Texas Street.

Moossy, a local architect and former president of the Elk's Lodge, died in 1998. His cremains were found recently in the trunk of a car on his abandoned property on Leland Street. Moossy's house, car and other property were recently sold.

Moossy's closest living relative is a daughter who is currently incarcerated in Baton Rouge and was the last person to live at the Leland Street address. Following an investigation by the Caddo Sheriff's Office, Moossy's cremains were claimed by his brother, who lives in West Virginia.
