Representative Mike Powell unexpectedly resigns

LA State. Representative Mike Powell of Shreveport resigned from the Louisiana Legislature just weeks before he was to begin a second term, citing strains on his family.

Quote:

"It has become clear to me the needs of my family come first and the time required in my current elective position has simply become more than I can successfully give," Powell said.

my first thought was.. this guy just got finished running for RE-election.. and NOW he decides "I want to spend more time with the family" .. so why didn't he think of that **** BEFORE he ran for RE-election. ?

what's up with that ? or was it simply put to him.. resign or 'else' ?

Maybe Louisiana Senator David Vitter gave him the phone number to the so-called D.C. madam and his wife found it on his cell phone???..... Or some sort of similiar scenerio.

Or maybe he just wanted to spend more time with his family.

My bet is he isn't making near the money as a senator as he could as an attorney... if he had the time.

I agree, something smells fishy here.... Howlea's guess is as good as any.. I bet we hear more on this story in months to come. There is nothing quite like juicy Louisiana politics.... really, there isn't!
