If there's no good screening test for this ailment and the symptoms are difficult to identify, I can't see how even being aware of this ailment will help reduce its influence on women. They just need to come up with some way of screening it.

CA-125 is a blood test that measures an antigen that is produced by this type of cancer. If the level is high in a woman, then ovarian cancer is suspected. It is not used as a screening tool because it can have false positives and such. However when the woman has a known ovarian cancer, the oncologist will watch this to help in her staging and to watch the progression of her disease. It's much like a PSA in a man.
