No Joy in Death Valley – The Mighty Tigers have Struck Out! By Tom Pace
Arkansas Razorbacks Upset #1 LSU: 50-48 in Triple-OT

By: Tom Pace, Executive Editor SBLive!
November 24, 2007

Saturday, October 13th, in Triple-OT, the Unranked Wildcats, hand #1 LSU, their first loss of the season, 43-37 in Lexington, Kentucky…& lots of ??’s

Déjà vu: Fast forward to Friday, November 23rd, 2007: Same song, second verse, as Unranked Arkansas comes-a-calling on #1 LSU (for the 2nd time) for the “Battle of the Boot” in Death Valley (Tiger Stadium, Baton Rouge), and a crowd of 92,000+ watched in stunned horror, as the Razorbacks served up the Tigers for Thanksgiving Dinner, 50-48.

So, now what? What’s the future hold for the 10-2 Bayou Bengals in 2007?
No BCS Championship game. Now they’re playing for pride, and hopefully, a berth in the Sugar Bowl. What about Coach Les Miles, will he go, or will he stay? Can LSU win the SEC Championship? Not a gimme, for sure. More questions, than answers.

As I have written before, LSU has jumped over too many snakes all season long…finally, one up and bit them, and the venom spread before the Cardiac Kids could call 9-1-1. Even Jacob Hester couldn’t save them.
(No fault of his, he tried valiantly, but to no avail.)

Then there’s the saga of the “Head Hog”, Houston Nutt. Rumors are rampant. He’s gone, they say. But, with this win, the BIGGEST one of the season, do the Arkansas faithful really want to send Houston a-packing?

With this win, the Razorbacks (8-4) played themselves into a higher pay-out bowl. The Independence Bowl was courting them, but a kiss good-bye, and they’re on their way: maybe, to the Cotton, or, the Music City Bowl.

If Les Miles SHOULD lose the SEC Championship game, is HE gone?
Sounds like a Football Soap Opera to me: “As the Coaches Turn.”
