Fairfield Shooting Leaves Store Owner Fatally Wounded

Fairfield shooting leaves owner of Goody's with fatal gun shot wound to her head

I met someone tonight who knew the victim for years as a fellow church member. Very sad story. There are lots of posts on this story at shreveporttimes.com

Social ills will not go away

Social ills will not go away until they give the death penalty to those who do murders in cold blood. All for a crack rock or to join a gang. Public hanging would send a message to these punks. Cedar Grove is a cancer to this city and if I recall they had a riot there and chased the SPD away with rocks and then burned down a building or two. They do not respect the law and if fact will support those who break the law. They live in fear and at times it overflows into the rest of Shreveport. Time for a change and I do not think Mr. Glover will have the back bone to do what needs to be done. The people that elected him are the people that are causing all the problems !!

Well according to this article, crime is down in Shreveport
http://www.ktbs.com/news/local/5329946.html

Lets hope this trend continues

Here's another article on Shreveport crime
Police: Shreveport crime marks 26-year low

But back to the subject:
"The 15-year-old boy accused of killing a Shreveport business owner..."

How sad. He threw away his life before it hardly got started. I hope they also find the people responsible for selling or giving him the gun. The fact that a 15 year old has access to weapons just re-enforces the notion that if guns were outlawed (and they are for 15 year olds) then outlaws would still have guns.

Absolutely. We should bring back public hangings.. have them right here in downtown Shreveport. You know.. we could have a fair, rides for the kids, bands etc etc.. and then a hanging

Back when justice was swift and firm

I'm pro-death penalty but it has never been effective as a deterrent for any society in which it has existed.

Isaac-Saxxon 01-25-2007 04:13 PM

I'm pro-death penalty but

but no repeat offenders :D so there is your deterrent.

Even if I was for the death penalty, and even if I was pro-public-hanging, I think that a case of a 15 year juvenile should be an exception. (Not to belittle the severity of the crime in any way) But where are the parents who raised this child? What kind of parents and role models were they? Are they responsible in any way?

Al Swearengen 01-25-2007 06:16 PM

Not a deterent...Im not so sure

In the middle east (Islamic countries), I understand that if someone's wallet falls out of their back pocket, that wallet will likely remain exactly where it fell, because they all know that however much cash or plastic is inside it, its not worth getting one of your hands chopped off. And THAT falls way short of death.

Snow Man 01-25-2007 06:54 PM

But where are the parents who raised this child?

Might know where mama is but daddy is mia. Stop and think if is was your wife, mother, or daughter what you would do to that sob. He would be lucky to have the law take care of the deal instead of me. There are allot of people in jail for bs reasons but rape and murder in cold blood there should be none of those people in jail but in a paupers grave or on a dung hill. Sorry guys this one hit close to home.

That's so sad that there is no chance for an honest citizen to pickup the wallet, open it up, and read the drivers license so that he can return it to the proper owner. When you eliminate the chance of someone doing a bad deed, then it is likely that you also eliminate the chance of doing a good deed as well. I bet nobody over there would want to even take the chance of being mistaken for a thief.
