“It’s an opportunity for our cities to come together, and pray to God, and give thanks for all our blessings we enjoy,” said Terry Slack, Chairman for this year’s 26th Annual Shreveport-Bossier Mayors’ Prayer Breakfast.

Director of Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Slack says for $15, you can enjoy a great breakfast, and take time to reflect on the blessings we enjoy as cities, the nation, and the world.

Everyone is invited for this event, a local version of the National Prayer Breakfast held annually in Washington, D.C., that started back in 1952.
It was formed by leadership groups in the United States Senate, and House of Representatives as a time for spiritual rededication of the individual and the nation.

“This year’s Shreveport-Bossier Prayer Breakfast will honor the late Congressman Joe D. Waggonner, Jr., who was instrumental in the formation of the prayer breakfast at our local level, 26 years ago,” said Slack.

Dr. Charles Lowery, nationally known motivational speaker, is the President & CEO of the Lowery Institute for Excellence (LIFE,INC), will deliver the prayer breakfast keynote address. Charles Lowery is the brother of Dr. Fred Lowery, Pastor of 1st Baptist Bossier. Charles’ unique style of humor, encouragement, and motivation has made him one of the most sought after speakers in the country.

Also, being honored at the breakfast is the late Robert Key, who worked on, and helped with the planning of the Shreveport-Bossier Mayors’ Prayer Breakfast every year, starting from the beginning in 1981.

Shreveport Fire Chief Kelvin Cochran will deliver the Prayer for the City, State and Nation. Mayors Cedric Glover & Lorenz “Lo” Walker will be joined by a group of local community leaders in attendance.

The public is invited to attend. Tickets are $15, and can be purchased by calling Terry Slack: 747-3197, or Gilbert Shanley, 429-1525. You can also pay at the door, Thursday, November 8th at the Bossier Civic Center.
