How do you like your Tuna ?

I am sure most will choose canned tuna. I like it with ranch, garlic salt, egg, lettuce and black pepper on a cracker or toasted bread. Fresh tuna is best not cooked with soy and avocado.

I will take sushi over canned tuna any day !! I do not do sweet pickles ever and no apples either or celery. Mom tried to kill me with that deadly mix as a kid. I was 25 before I knew canned tuna was even good to eat

I'll take mine in the can, then made in a salad with either crackers or bread.

I like mine on the end of my rod bowed up like a cutworm. Or RAW

I had toro (tuna cheek/belly) for the first time a few weeks ago and it was the best tuna I ever had. I'm a tightwad, but I splurged that day and spent 10 bux for two pieces of fish! (and it was worth every penny) I went to the sushi bar by myself after work, which saves a lot so I can spoil myself. Toro is fatty but still firm in texture (if fresh like it should be) and it tasted like it was dipped in a rich butter sauce only it wasn't. The color (light pink) was also appealing. For those who eat raw tuna and like it, you should splurge if you ever have the chance to try it at least once in your life.

As I have stated before I do not like green eggs and ham! (I mean raw fish)!
Guess I'd have to pick tuna salad on a croissant from Jaquelynn's! :lick:

If I'm making tuna salad I like the kind that comes in the foil bags better than the kind in the cans. I can taste the can.

Joe just what does the can taste like ?

joepole 10-19-2007 09:48 AM

It's a metallic taste I can only describe as "tinny" even though I know cans are not actually made of tin anymore.

Help me here joe. They make the cans out of aluminum and the the bags too. Maybe it is the mercury from the tuna ?

joepole 10-19-2007 02:13 PM

The bags are plastic-lined and I'm pretty sure tuna cans are steel, not aluminum.

I like the fresh stuff, but will eat canned in a pinch. I recently acquired a good source. I like it raw or seared. I'm also a purist when it comes tuna salad. Just mayo and tuna. Definitely no pickles.

Morpheus, I lke you. :D Just one tip. Try a little pickle juice mixed in with the mayo. Adds a nice dill/tartness to it. But I dig the purist philosophy. :peace:

I will mix the tuna with ranch and pour that on a spinach salad with a boiled egg.

I take my tuna with lots of mayo, onion, pickles, and Tonys. Mix that up, put it on bread with a slice of tomato and it's a great lunch!
