Mc Donalds at Linwood and Bert Kouns

A friend sent this to me

Yesterday (10.07.2007) I went to McDonald’s on the corner of Linwood and Bert Kouns Industrial Loop to grab my son and daughter a happy meal. I asked for a plain hamburger, no cheese, just meat and bread for my son. I failed to check it and got home and found that it had cheese on it. This was my fault for not checking so I went back up there and purchased another happy meal, asking for the same thing; Hamburger, no cheese, just meat and bread.

As I began to drive off I thought I would check it before leaving the parking lot, of course they put cheese on it again, so I parked and went inside to ask them to fix it. As soon as I walked in the manager noticed me and made the comment “They put cheese on it, didn’t they?” I said “Yes”. She apologized and told the workers in the back to make a hamburger no cheese, just meat and bread.

I was standing where I could see the cooks and noticed one of the workers hold the bottom bun and meat patty up to a co-worker beside him. The co-worker spit on the meat, and the other worker put the top bun on and prepared to wrap the burger up. I remained calm and told the manager what I had seen.

All the other workers started laughing and joking about this, the manager told them to make a new one. I watched again as the cook removed the top bun placing it back in the bin to be used again, doing the same with the meat patty. He then proceeded to pull the exact same patty from the bin and used the same top bun that he had just removed from the burger.

At this point I mentioned to the manager as she handed me the new burger what I had just seen, informed her that I would be placing a call to the regional manager…

I can only imagine what they would do to a customer who had more to say then just a simple “Yes” when asked if there order was not correct.

That is disgusting. I patronize that particular McDonalds regularly for breakfast, but I believe this story is genuine (why would you lie) and therefore I will go to another location with a different owner. Spitting in food is the cardnal sin of any restaurant. McDonalds managers are not under the same corporate mandates that they were 30 years ago, that much is for sure. 30 years ago they peeled and sliced potatoes on location for french fries....

Pocahontas 10-18-2007 10:17 PM

This is so repulsive! Someone should report this to the media and at the very least they may lose some customers over this! :nono:

rhertz 10-18-2007 10:40 PM

shreveport.com is the media, only the "talking heads" are regular people like you and I....

I'm not eatting there again, and that's all I care about. I got the message. Now if others choose to read one of those who shot who sites instead, then maybe they deserve to eat there. ;)

Pocahontas 10-18-2007 10:54 PM

Yes you are so right!
Guess I was envisioning the television media with their microphones and camera crews interviewing employees and trying to make some people squirm!
But I'm with you I GOT the message too!;)

LateNight 10-18-2007 11:34 PM

LOL, maybe one of us should head down there with a camcorder in hand..

"LateNight here.. reporting live from McD, for Shreveport.com. Sir, yes you , would like to comment on the story circulating on SBLive! ?"

"no comment ? that's right, you heard it here first on SBLive!"

I worked at McD's for 3 years in high school, 2 years as asst. manager- I cant tell you how angry I get at the employees of these places!:nono: Like when they are all laughing and carrying on like children, instead of doing their job. I fired many of them!!
It all goes back to poor management. When I was in management in the '80s, There were alot of standards. We would get spot inspections, such as "ghost customers", who would come in like regular joe and order a meal. They would hand you a 5 page "score sheet" on their way out the door, and you better not have any problems on that score! They would also drive thru the drive thru and time it- it had to be less than 3 minutes from order to drive-off. Obviously, that sort of thing doesn't happen anymore:rolleyes:
Working the amount of hours that I do, fast food is un-avoidable. But I do try to frequent certain ones.... PEOPLE ARE CRAZY!

Pocahontas 10-19-2007 09:12 AM

It has to make you wonder if this goes on everywhere and I'm sure it does! Gross! Just makes you want to stay home and eat.

AnimeSpirit 10-19-2007 09:25 AM

McDonald's is slipping. :freaky:

piemaker720 10-19-2007 10:00 AM

There is also no need to report them to the better business bureau because they are not members, there is nothing the BBB can do. S word of mouth or picket signs is all you can do to those scumbags.

I'm now thinking that spitting in food is a criminal offense or should be. Then it would be up to authorities to investigate the matter. Even if nothing resulted from an investigation, it would teach those employees that they might be talking to the cops if they are seen spitting in food.

Why didn't the lady call the police, file a complaint, give them the burger and tell them to do a DNA test in front of the employee. Scare the hell out of them.

LOL, I hope she saved the dress...err... the burger...

purpahurl 10-19-2007 09:53 PM

Ok, I got this from my father in law and the person in question is somone that works with him. I personaly think this should be considered a hate crime. It was intentionaly malicious and the races involved are different. :nono:

Isaac-Saxxon 10-19-2007 09:56 PM

If I could see someone spit on my burger I would have make a major scene to the point everybody in that place would know what happened. Type A coming out

I WOULD have called the cops, just to keep me from crossing the counter to get my hands around his neck.....but they probably wouldnt be able to get there fast enough-

Morpheus 10-21-2007 08:00 AM

That's disgusting. I don't go to McD's much either, but we occasionally stop there on road trips. I have heard reports of "rude" customers getting their food spit on and worse, but it doesn't sound like the customer here was rude at all. Just think what would have happened if you had gone back through the drive through. Has anyone seen the movie Waiting? Pie what happened? Are you banned from McD's? Do they have your picture posted on the wall?

Yes me and my daughter were both banned fron Mcd's On Airline Drive. If you go to the Forum Local on the 2nd page you will see a thread Got A Beef, read it. I posted the letter that the owner sent telling us we were banned. I think it is funny. My son went there the other day to see if they changed but he had to send his burger back twice because they kept putting cheese on it and all he wanted was ketchup only. But if they want to post my picture on the wall I'd send them one. They are so stupid.:laugh::laugh:

Morpheus 10-21-2007 12:35 PM

WOW! I just read the got a beef thread. Amazing.

Ya know if we all carried six shooters like in the old days, I bet spitting in food wouldn't happen nearly as often. It's a testiment on how far the socialist movement has come that the majority of people carrying side arms these days are government officers on patrol. Although I bet even a cop could get his burger spit on these days since using that firearm will likely result in a lawsuit. I guess the more society leans left, the more we need to get used to spit in our politically incorrect fat burgers. There is an irony in there somewhere... :D

Morpheus: Throughout human history, we have been dependent on machines to survive. Fate, it seems, is not without a sense of irony.

I can do that and kill coons at night with spotlights. We use to practice gun shooting the old way, not with these paper targets of today. We would go down a dirt road, stick kitchen matches up in the dirt and shoot til you lite the matches. That's old school there.:laugh::laugh::peace:

Seems like earlier this year, some cop got his burger back with some ground-up glass in it. If ya tamper with somebody's food, ya oughta be shot on sight.

I agree Al, they should be shot on sight or they should have to sit down and eat the burger theirself.:D:D

That's being nice. Imagine what would happen in Saudi Arabia or Iran if someone of one race spit into the food served to someone of another race. Might cut out your tongue or cut a hand off. We are so civilized here in the US that we sometimes go overboard (i.e. Political Correctness) Perhaps one extreme needs the other extreme to keep the planet in balance.

I believe if someone spits on somebody's burger, they should have to sit in the middle of the eating area with a sign around his neck that says I spit on this burger and then they have to eat it.:laugh::laugh:

I went to the mcDs @ linwood and bertkouns today:eek:
Seriously, as a former McDonalds manager, I decided I would give the place a good look and this is what I noticed:
The place was spotless, even the floor and "stainless" in the work area.
I overheard the shift manager telling 3 different employees to wash their hands after handling cleaning utensils, and they did what they were told.
The employees were acting professional- no laughing and carrying on.
I noticed the shift manager "paying attention" to how the cashier handled me, and she was perfect.
I also looked at the food, how it was prepared, and packaged- what I noticed there was "by the book".(yes I still have all the manuals and training materials:laugh:)
The impression I got, was that someone in upper management came down hard on the minions to straighten that store up! I wonder if this thread has anyhing to do with it?:D Since I dont frequent that part of town, I could have simply been there at the right time....with a good manager on duty?
If anyone else notices anything like this-post it:D

Since you use to work for McD's what about the way the ones on Airline do.

vixweb 10-24-2007 05:34 PM

I actually Opened the one @ Airline and Viking- It was a big deal back then. But I havent noticed latley, I will make a point to critique them for this thread and let you know what I think. I really got the impression of NEW management at the one I went to today, and thats EXACTLY the problem you experienced: poor management- but we'll see!:D
